One of the best stories

By Fernando R. Velázquez Quesada - 2006-07-28 16:55

"The shadow over Innsmouth" is one of the best stories of H.P. Lovecraft. They are all great, but this one, with "The colour out of space", "The call of Cthulhu", "The shadow out of space", "At the mountains of maddness" and "The case of Charles Dexter Ward" are, for me, the best of all.

H.P. Lovecraft was, is, and will be the greatest writer of horror.

Very useful

As an English teacher - in Germany - I am always looking for audio material for my students to listen to. This is perfect! Most students get so used to hearing only one voice in English - their teacher's - that they are unable to understand what others are saying, especially when the content is in a local dialect. Chapter 3 is exactly what I was looking for to help my students experience this. Thank you, very much.

The Shadow Over Innsmouth

Absolutely one of the most horrifying and depressing stories I have ever read. If there ever was a testament to the power of HP Lovecraft to bring dread to the reader, this is it.

Thanks so much for putting these stories up. Innsmouth is my favorite Lovecraft story, and this is perfect for listening too, on a dark, windy night, when you can almost imagine the dark, eldritch creatures from beyond the veil of sanity...

the shadow over innsmouth

I'm addicted to this story! I've heard it so many times now and I never get tired of it.I've watched the animated version on youtube and also the dark tides of innsmouth.I know the movie dagon is based on this story but I've never seen it. Its such a shame that the author died so young and I wonder how many more stories this gifted writer would have left. Well done to all involved
